Where is Godzilla?

This piece is a Self Portrait. 12 x 18 Charcoal and Conte on gray paper.

The process is very simple. I take a lot of pictures of myself, then choose the one I want to use.
After that, I think I probably did about 10 to 12 sketches and face studies. I usually start with the eyes, so I have like three pages full of eyes with the expression on the picture.
When I finally feel that I can capture the expression, I make the final sketch, which I use to make it bigger. All of that with Graphite.
I use transfer paper to transfer it to the good paper, in this case, gray charcoal. I normally only transfer the outline of the face, the mouth, and eyes, just so that I don’t have to sketch on top of the good paper.
I start by drawing a very light outline of the face with charcoal. In this case, I also added the hair.
I color the darkest areas first, so that I know how much contrast I have to create.
I don’t know on some of the pictures the drawing looks brownish, but it is NOT.

The name of the piece is “Where is Godzilla!?”
It was inspired by comment from my friend CelticRainStudio.com
